Witness the transformation of a former military base into a thriving social activation hub in the heart of the Italian Alps. In just five years, BASIS has emerged as a transformative force, combating brain drain and revitalizing the region. The region of South Tyrol, where BASIS is situated, is well-developed, with its train line connecting most of the villages in the main valley. Being one of the country’s wealthiest regions and strategically located close to Austria, the area is renowned for its innovation agenda.
BASIS actively participates in this development, primarily from the bottom-up, rooted in a strong set of values, and genuinely believing in community-driven methods for creating a greater impact. Despite its well-established nature , challenges persist regarding its existence. Like other rural spaces, they are often misunderstood and undervalued.
BASIS was the first client of Rural Radicals, a fact that we take great pride in. We have supported them through international funding and partnerships, resulting in initiatives such as an EU project focusing on economical, sustainable, and inclusive education for nightlife professionals. Additionally, the hosting of one of the New European Bauhaus ignite events, aimed at developing solutions for the creation of the 9th module: BED & BASIS, a short-term retreat accommodation.
