Creative Grounds is an international fieldtour for entrepreneurs, investors and makers who believe that Europe’s rural regions are where the most exciting opportunities are taking shape.
Across European rural regions we explore pioneering projects — from artist residencies breathing new life into forgotten buildings to co-living spaces in historic structures and regenerative communities restoring the landscapes around them. Each stop is a living proof of concept: a purposeful adaptive reuse project where buildings, land and imagination have come together in ways that respect both ecological realities and cultural heritage.
Through site visits, conversations with the people who built these places, and exchange with fellow pioneers, you gain the practical knowledge to move from inspiration to action — and the network to do it with.
Creative Grounds is for pioneers who want to build meaningful, purpose-driven projects in Europe’s rural regions. Participants typically include:
Whether you’re imagining your first rural project, searching for land or buildings with potential, exploring investment opportunities or deepening your knowledge of adaptive reuse and rural transformation — this is where inspiration meets action.

Creative Grounds #1 Portugal 30 September -3 October 2025
Our first edition took place in Portugal. With a group of 7 people we visited 6 places in between Porto and Lisbon. From lunches at super remote mountain spots to ope-hearted conversations with the founders of the spaces.
Participant quote:
“Above all, to learn by having fun! Creative Grounds was a beautifully organised tour that allowed participants to both learn deeply about the practicalities of the projects we visited and also to have good fun and enjoy what they all had to offer. It was a great study trip that brought me a lot of insights both in terms of what I didn’t know but also about things I already knew (but was not aware I did!) about my own project and had there the possibility to validate/ consolidate.”
